Role of the District Court Clerk – Official Record Keeper of the Court

The Clerk of District Court is responsible for accurately and effectively processing, managing, maintaining, and preserving all records and cases filed within the Fourth Judicial District Court in Johnson County, dating back to 1886.  The District Court handles a variety of case types including Civil matters over $50,000 (Contracts, Domestic Relations, Paternity and Child Support Enforcement, Marital Dissolution, Torts, Adoptions, etc.), Criminal Felonies, Juvenile Crimes, Abuse and Neglect, Children in Need of Supervision, and Probate Matters. The Clerk of District Court is also responsible for jury pool management, administration of appeals, collecting and disbursing court ordered fines, fees, restitution, child support, and processing passport applications.
